Trademarked by Carpenter Specialty Alloys, this alloy is double vacuum-melted using a vacuum induction melt (VIM) followed by a vacuum arc remelt (VAR). Custom 455® has good oxidation resistance at room temperatures, unlike many other heat treatable alloys.
